Are you ready to take off for Planet Terror? The Polaris Project’s Planet Terror is yet another showcase by the group featuring local artists of each and every medium as part DITO: Bahay ng Sining's three-day horror fest, Bahay ng Lagim.
From film viewing, live music, art, poetry, and so much more, The Polaris Project once again brings together all these different artists for all to appreciate.
The Thing talks to some of the local artists participating in the event to ask why they’re just as excited as you are for Planet Terror!
Tonight, we chat with collage artist (and trusty Thingamabob), Ches Gatpayat!
1. How did you contribute to Planet Terror?
I made pretty horrifying mixed-media collages!
2. What are your experiences with terror/horror?
Well, a great remainder of my childhood was spent living in this old condominium. Once, there was a blackout, and being the adventurous kid I was, I wandered around by myself. I got to the basketball court and saw a white figure in the middle of the court, just sitting down. Calling it terrifying is an understatement. I also find humans pretty horrifying. I mean, we're all complex, thinking, feeling voids made up of everything. Isn't that scary?
3. How did you get into this project? How does it feel?
A friend of mine told me about it and I decided to check it out. They were looking for artists so I submitted my work. I think my style fits the theme pretty well.
4. How great is it, being able to mash up all these different forms of art for Planet Terror?
Really great, because it's usually just a solo gig or art exhibit or film screening that happens. Having them all together, and so accessible to people, is a really great thing. I think it's important to foster one's appreciation and liking for the arts and this event is perfect for that.
5. From your perspective and from what you know, what should people expect from Planet Terror?
Art in all possible mediums. Spooky ones, for that matter.
6. How do you think people will react and feel after experiencing Planet Terror?
Can't really say, but hopefully good! I hope they get scared and I hope they see art more often.
Check back tomorrow for our interview with poet, Jam Pascual!

Interview by Meg
Article by Katrina and Gaby
----
Meg is a lover of black clothing, milk, and almost all genres of music (she’s not big on country). The only things she watches on TV are Game of Thrones, Korean channels, MTV, and FashionTV. Pastel hair colors and ear cuffs are a few of the things she wishes to have someday. She has a lost pet turtle named Picasso and a ukulele named Chikito.
Gaby is used to working quietly in the background. The Thing is her first big attempt at taking the lead. She isn't sure how it is going to go, considering that most of her time is spent trying to get her dog to listen to her. On most days, you would find her at her computer, excessively bookmarking links to DIY projects and articles about teenage wunderkind.
Katrina Pimintel's biggest life goals include becoming a mermaid, and finding out how many cupcakes she can eat without gaining weight. You can follow her on Twitter or Instagram at @kkotrono
