There were so many places they wanted to go – each time a suggestion would come up, it seemed like a battle to one-up each other on how far they could get away from their own neighborhood.
They wanted to explore quaint towns and big cities, cross creeks, wade in rivers, trek mountains, explore the abandoned, eat good (and bad) food together, and anything else that awaited them that wasn’t part of the plan. It only took one friend with a driver’s license and a long weekend for everyone to grab their hard-earned savings and put it towards the gas for their grand adventure. Nothing material could excite them as much as heading towards the unfamiliar, with their favorite familiar faces.
Hours and hours on the road would exhaust anyone, especially with bursts of screaming the lyrics to each other’s favorite songs, feet propped up, hands out the window; but even when it gets quiet, the music gets softer, and light snoring is heard from the back – everyone has to make a pit stop.

Sammi is a walking Studio Ghibli character in her imagination, in search of a hidden kingdom of cats and/or the next greatest panini sandwich to enter her life.
